Hessle Beavers had a fun evening in Nut Wood building dens, both for them to fit in and the local wildlife. Our Young Leaders had a great time building their den too!

Den Building
Beavers went on a hike to Nut Wood, where they spent time building dens that they could all fit inside. To quote one Beaver “best thing I’ve done in ages”!
Chief Scout Silver Award
Congratulations to Cherokee Cubs Ava and Alexander on achieving their Chief Scout Silver Award. Charlotte, our GSL, presented them before Cubs went off for a hike around Nut Wood, where they found some dens to shelter from the rain.
Nut Wood Dens
For part of the Outdoor Challenge badge Beavers have to make something to help animals in the wild. We had a visit to Nut Wood and made minature dens from sticks, moss and leaves for the small animals that live there, such as hedgehogs, squirrels, mice, voles and badgers.
Gruffalo Adventure
2019 is the Gruffalo’s 20th birthday, and to celebrate Beavers have taken part in a Gruffalo Adventure. Outdoors we enjoyed the climbing wall and go karts, as well as making pictures of Gruffalo characters from natural items, and hunting for bugs. Welcome to Beavers
Four new Beavers were invested in Nut Wood, welcome to Charlotte, Jonah, Ruben and Seth. We then went on a hike around the wood, identifying the different trees and learning all about what happens to them during the seasons of the year.

A Visit to Nut Wood
This week the Beavers went for a wander around Nut Wood. Here they learnt how trees change during the different seasons for their Gardeners Badge and had a look at some bivvys before making their own Beaver Lodge!
