Hessle Beavers took part in a hike with a challenge for Water Aid. We walked from Hessle Foreshore into the Humber Bridge Country Park where we filled our milk bottles with water from the pond, learning about water safety whilst we were there. Beavers than had to carry their 4 pint (2.27 litre) cartons back to the start in the dark – quite a heavy load for 6 and 7 year olds. This gave them an understanding of how children their age in poorer countries have to collect water for their families – sometimes in much bigger containers. We will be making a collection for Water aid back in the den next week – all contributions of loose change welcome – to support Water Aid and mark World Water Day and join the global call for water and toilets for everyone everywhere.
