During half term Hessle Beavers took part in a Mad Scientist Sleepover. We started the event by joining the Humber Bridge Country Park Rangers building hibernation dens, first of all small ones in pieces of drain pipe for insects, and then larger ones using logs and sticks in the woods for small animals.
We then transferred up to Raywell and started our experiments. We split into two teams – Chemical Chaos and Fatal Forces – and sick stomach, flying rice krispies, coin cleaners, eruption, whirling water and egg-speriment were just a few of the experiments that we completed. All those taking part achieved their Experiment activity badge.
Whilst at Raywell we also completed several team challenges – completing some ‘Horrible Science’ jigsaws; undertaking the orienteering trail around Raywell Park; building space ships from lego; hunting for CD’s dangling from trees in the dark; and best of all for the leaders, seeing which team could all be asleep first!
