In conjunction with the Marine Conservation Society and staff from The Deep, Beavers and parents took part in a beach clean on Hessle Foreshore. Some of our best-loved marine wildlife is under threat from the waste and litter in our seas, with hundreds of species accidentally eating or becoming entangled in litter. It’s also dangerous for people and damaging to our tourism and fishing industries. We all have a part to play in turning the tide on litter, and Hessle Beavers did just that. They collected lots of rubbish, glass, and fishing wire from the beach, all in all totaling 49.5kg! The rubbish was weighed and recorded, the details of which will be sent to the Marine Conservation Society for them to calculate data nationally. ITV also came down to film, and we appeared on the local news. Well done to the Beavers, they did a fantastic job in very windy conditions.
