This years Group Camp was held at our local Scout Camp, Raywell Park, and it had a medieval theme.
The weekend started with the crusades arriving in camp on Friday night, bearing their flags and tunics, after a hike from Melton Bottom.
Saturday morning’s activities included jousting, running the gauntlet, storming the castle, medieval archery and creating shields, swords and goblets.
The afternoon’s activities brought back the famous jousting competition from last year. This years event was held in our very own castle’s moat! It was Cherokee versus Arapaho and Cherokee won!
After everyone had dried off and changed into their medieval costumes it was time for a very tasty hog roast banquet. The evening was then ended with a good old sing song round the enormous campfire built by Russell the explorer leader.
On Sunday morning after all bags were packed and tents taken down, parents were invited to join their kids on the Quest for the Holy Grail. It was then time for a closing flag break before everyone departed off home.
Thank you very much to Ian and Charlotte from Arapaho cubs for organising such an enjoyable weekend!
