Hessle Feast 2018

Thank you to the 22 young people who helped us in the parade and litter picking at Hessle Feast today, as well as the Co-op for recycling the rubbish for us.  A day full of sunshine and laughter and lots of rubbish collected.    

HESSLE WEST OPEN GARDENS

Thank you to everyone that participated in the Hessle West Open Gardens event this year, in particular to the Hessle Scout Group Leaders that helped with the minibus.  Each year the event supports local charities and Paul, our GSL, and Connor, Apache Scout, were today presented with a cheque for £300.

CYCLING THE HUMBER

Beavers completed their cyclist badge in perfect weather.  We cycled from the Humber Bridge Car Park over to the bridge tower on the south bank of the Humber and back.  Thanks to all the parents that joined us to make the trip possible.

Bike Festival

Cherokee Cubs had a fun evening at the Bike Festival at Goole Academy.  They got to race against each other, try out lots of unusual bicycles, and watch the 3Sixty bicycle stunt team.  This event also helped them work towards their cyclist badge.

POTTERY PAINTING

CHIEF SCOUT SILVER AWARD

Congratulations to four Cherokee Cubs Alex, Connor, Ethan and Ewan on achieving their Chief Scout Silver Award.  Also to Ewan for being our Cub of the Term for Autumn 2017.  All were presented with their awards by Paul our GSL.

KHEDRUBJE KADAMPA BUDDHIST CENTRE

As part of their World Challenge and World Faith Badges, Cherokee Cubs visited our local Buddhist Centre.  They discovered lots of interesting facts about Buddhism and the history of the centre, as well as doing some meditation.  A big thanks to Neil for sharing all this information with us.

Scottish Sparks

Hessle Beavers spent an evening immersing themselves in all thing Scottish as part of the World Challenge badge.  We played games of beanbag curling, designed our own tartan, and had tasters of haggis, tatties and neeps and irn bru!  #PS4

MINECRAFT MISSION

Cherokee Cubs spent a weekend engrossed in all things Minecraft, but not just on a computer!  We made creepers from junk boxes, a huge Minecraft sword cake, hama bead Minecraft keyrings, played creeper bowling, and a #Youshape request from the Cubs was to build their own Minecraft house from cardboard boxes, which gave hours of…

Bronze Chief Scout Award

Congratulations to Sam on achieving his Bronze Chief Scout Award, presented to him by our GSL Paul.  During his time in Beavers Sam has also been awarded 19 of the 20 activity badges available to Beavers as well as 7 different staged badges – quite an achievement in 2 years!

Chief Scout Silver Award

Well done to Oliver, Connor and Henry on achieving their Chief Scout Silver Award – the highest badge that Cubs can receive.  They were presented with them by our GSL Paul.

Cherokee Cubs Shield

Congratulations to Ethan who was presented with the Cherokee Cubs Shield for being the most helpful Cub at the It’s Christmas Camp 2017.    

ROCK UP!

Beavers had a great time at Rock-up for their Christmas treat.  Up and down the walls several times, with no fear at all!  We also waved farewell to Sam and Charlotte as they swam up the river to Arapaho Cubs.  

NATIVITY WITH A TWIST

EUREKA!

Beavers had a brilliant time at Eureka, the extraordinary fun-packed day out for kids.  We explored the different zones of the museum, All About Me, Spark Gallery, Living and Working Together, Imagination Space, Sound Space pushing buttons, playing and discovering.   This helped Beavers to achieve their Explore Activity Badge.
