All things Harry Potter was the theme of the 2016 Group Camp, and 107 members of Hessle Scout Group had a fantastic time at Primrose Hill Campsite, Brigg.
The weekend began at Platform 9 3/4 on Friday evening with Hagrid welcoming everyone to camp, and then on to the sorting hat ceremony where we all found out which house we were in. We then built some camp gadgets to put the washing up bowls on to.
Saturday dawned way to early for some, and we continued the fun with us decorating hats, whittling wands, making brooms, experimenting in the potion room making slime and elephants toothpaste and solving a mystery. During the afternoon we had an owl display. We finished the day with a campfire led by some of our young people.
Sunday saw us playing quidditch and muggle hockey, and working together to ensure all the tents were taken down.
Throughout the weekend everyone took responsibility for ensuring the camp ran smoothly with camp duties including wood and water, hygiene, cooking and washing up.
At the end of camp GSL Paul invested Sam into Beavers, presented Cherokee Cub Ethan with his Silver Chief Scout Award, welcomed two new leaders, Sara and Andy into our group, and congratulated Will on becoming the first recipient of our new annual award of Best Scout on Camp.
